A VORTEX AND A STONE©
            by James Delphi

I witnessed this event one night,
While I watched from 'top my home,
Gazing o'er the sea in flight,
And observing very closely, like a poem.

I saw an unbelievable vision
Of the sky and sea combined.
It seemed to be a good decision
To speak and share this from my mind.

I saw a great beamish burst
    Of skylight far above.
I saw a force that held great thirst
That stripped the sea of love.

It came down suddenly and fast
And shook the earth beneath me.
It whirled and twirled and brought the past
To date with the present time being.

Indeed, it was a powerful funnel
That pulled the essence from the sea:
It then robbed the people in the tunnel -
All save one, who would their savior be.

This great one was called "the stone" -
For he would split the stream in two.
He travel back to times of bones
And then return again to present time to set things true.

The stone would travel very far -
Through cold and hot and old and new -
The stone would be beaten, maimed, and marred
So he could make time right and true.

The stone would fight the heart of thirst.
He would conquer thirst and save the robbed.
He'd be the one who came out first -
    The one who wouldn't sob.

So in the end he'd win the fight.
He would set the stream, and when
The task was done, disappear into the night
    And never show himself again.
