One of my favourite games on my Mega Drive (Genesis) has always been Ecco the Dolphin, it had exellent graphics, amazing gameplay, perfect music and something most games lack, an amazing and memerizing storyline. Even today with my 400MHZ computer and complex 3D games I still find myself attracted back to Ecco.   The idea for The Undercaves began to form about a year ago, at that time At that time I had just finally finished playing Ecco : The Tides of Time for the umpteenth time, since SEGA at that time didn't seem to be inclined to continue the series and I wanted more, I started searching for Ecco websites on the net but quickly found that... there weren't any! I was also hooked on Sonic the Hedgehog at that time, I renember spending many hours browsing the many Sonic websites. I wanted the sort of the experience I had got on the Sonic websites but in terms of Ecco. but I couldn't because I couldn't find any other fans.   At that time I had been teaching myself HTML for the last year or so but I hadn't found anything to make a website about yet, needless to say the solution to both my problems was obvious, I would make an Ecco website!   I am a person who is not very good at getting things started and I let things lapse for a while. At the start of December 2000 I realized I needed motivation to get started so instead for just starting a website on a free server like geocities to start with like most people do, I registered a domain name and got my website professionally hosted. I spent most of December working on the site, when the site launched on the 1st of January 2000 with about 1/2 the site completed. From then on I have been slowlly but surelly finishing things off but with a website like this, it will never be 'finished' because there always be something else to add. The Undercaves currentlly is exceeding my wildest expectations, and still continuing to grow as I add things and the other fans contribute things, you can see some of the achievements this website has reached on the awards page.   This website is basically designed for Ecco fans by an Ecco fan. It is here to provide news, tip, cheats, reviews, downloads, a meeting point for Ecco fans world wide and just about anything else you can imagine that is Ecco related. Everything here is for the benefit of the fans. After running for over a year The Undercaves grew beyond anything I could have predicted and became more work than I could handle so I handed the running of the website on to other people who in time moved on to their own websites. I have now uploaded the data from the website at the time I left to this archive. There are no interactive elements like guestbooks left enabled, this website is simply a collection of work that I want to be left online for anybody that might find it useful.
